Employees’ Union thanks RTC MD

The Andhra Pradesh Public Transport Department (APPTD), popularly known as the Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), has agreed to give promotions to its employees irrespective of educational qualification, implementing old rules. In this connection, APSRTC Managing Director (MD) Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao issued a circular recently.
Employees Union (EU) State president Palisetti Damodara Rao, on Thursday, thanked the APSRTC Managing Director. Damodara Rao stated that because of the agitations organised by his union, the PTD authorities have agreed to give promotions now.
In a press release, he said that as a result of his union’s agitations and the request of all employees, the RTC MD took the decision to give promotions to all those who are eligible. Thanks to the decision, the employees with a qualification below SSC will also get promotions and Automatic Advance Scheme (AAS) increments, he said.
He claimed that RTC MD Dwaraka Tirumala Rao took the initiative in this regard as a result of the representation submitted by Andhra Pradesh Joint Action Committee – Amaravati Chairman Bopparaju Venkateswarlu and Employees Union leaders. He said as many as 50,000 RTC employees would get promotions irrespective of educational qualifications until their retirement.
He made it clear that the promotions would be applicable to only those who were with the corporation before its merger with the government in 2019, December 31. Also, he thanked the Principal Secretary and other government officials.
