Are you ready to witness a gaming revolution with its very own multi-gaming platform? “Googly”—all things gaming is on a mission to give all gaming enthusiasts a multi-gaming platform with versatile devices to be plugged in as casual and eSports players. Basically, the country’s largest gaming community is on its way to being formed!
“Virtual games have become popular due to a combination of factors, including improved technology that allows for more immersive and interactive experiences and the availability of high-speed internet, making online gaming more accessible. Also, with the increasing availability of games on various platforms, including consoles, computers, and mobile devices, the desire for social connections and a sense of community, which can be found in online multiplayer games, has become a necessity. The ability to escape from reality with a combination of entertainment, challenge, and social interaction, which has contributed to their growing popularity, is good to see,” shared Shubhodip Pal, CEO and co-founder of Googly.
With more than 400 million gamers in the country and a market size of more than 2.6 billion, there is still a lack of a structured platform in the country that drives a complete gaming experience and caters to the needs of all gamer types. To fill this market void, a team led by industry veterans from technology, gaming, marketing, and brand building embarked on the Googly journey in late 2021.
Following this vision, it created a multi-featured platform that provided its users with the opportunity to create their own custom tournaments where they can battle it out with their friends or join tournaments hosted by other users of the platform for their favourite titles, make new friends, get social, stay updated on the latest happenings in the world of gaming, and shop for their favourite in-game assets!
He continued, “Online multiplayer games allow players to team up with others to complete objectives and collaborate on strategies, which have recently increased in popularity.
Gaming can provide a sense of belonging, as players can join virtual communities and form relationships with other players based on shared interests and experiences. Now, we can see immense growth in gaming communities based on their themes and styles.
Another important aspect is the decision-making and problem-solving abilities that get nurtured while playing as a team player, and that’s helpful for social growth as well. The government has backed up the online gaming events and tournaments that bring players together from all over the world to compete and socialise. And this also increases the enthusiasm and spirits for young gamers who are dreaming of successful gaming careers. Also, to break down cultural barriers, as players from different countries and backgrounds can connect and interact with each other through online gaming.”
With his vision of democratising the gaming space, he also aims to contribute to the growing esports culture in the country by ensuring that budding gamers in the country can upskill as pro-gamers and become esports professionals with its upcoming coaching feature. Furthermore, as believers in responsible gaming, the platform comes with safeguards and checks and balances to ensure fair play and a safe gaming experience for all users of the platform.
“It is essential to follow certain safety precautions when playing online games, such as using secure passwords. To prevent unauthorised access to your gaming accounts, use strong and unique passwords. Personal information should be handled with caution. If you receive unexpected messages or friend requests, proceed with caution because they could be from scammers or hackers. Please double-check the gamers’ profiles, events, and tournaments before accepting invitations. Be cautious when downloading files or software from unknown sources, as they may contain malware or viruses, and most importantly, speak-up if you suspect something is wrong. Further, it is also important to maintain a healthy balance while engaging in online gaming and to ensure that we take a break while playing our favourite games. Through features such as KYC (Know Your Customer) verification, we ensure that gaming on Googly is a safe experience. We also aim to develop a secure gaming environment for future players so that we can acquire gaming recognition worldwide. In our next release in April, we are also taking another step to make our users’ experience safer by controlling profanity on our platform to ensure a fun experience for all.”
Despite the fact that video game titles have massive fan bases, they are dispersed. In India too, the gaming industry is still in its infancy, and the current communities are scattered and mostly game title-specific rather than gaming communities. What’s currently lacking is one platform that not only hosts all these game titles under one roof but also brings each of their followers under the same roof as well. Now imagine, a sum of each game-title follower base, meeting, playing games together, against each other, picking-up tips and tricks from each other by playing tournaments for free, or reaching out to top players on the leader board, making friends with them, and learning all the way. That’s what he is trying to create with Googly.
“It all began with my personal experiences. My 17-year-old son is an avid esports fan, and in recent years, when he was looking for players to play with and interact with, he found it extremely difficult to connect with other enthusiasts outside of his personal circles. Furthermore, my son shared some negative experiences with me in which he was unable to collect his deserved winnings after defeating someone he met on social media. This highlighted the importance of creating and maintaining a community of like-minded enthusiasts. Also, regarding the future and current state of gaming in India, the industry gap must be recognised, and we must all work together as a community to improve gaming experiences. Even though millions of people play online games every day, these kinds of instances remain uncommon. Therefore, it’s possible that gaming inherently isn’t dangerous. To end this taboo, we must first alter our perspectives on gaming. To do this, we must see beyond its negative connotations and see the potential benefits of gaming. Many incidents have occurred as a result of parental misunderstandings or addiction to online gaming. However, Googly is not simply a gaming platform; it also serves as a resource for learning, professional development, and the creation of a fun and brilliant gaming environment for users,” added the co-founder.
