Local MLA Gandra Venkataramana Reddy and Telangana Vikalangula Cooperative Corporation Chairman Vasudeva Reddy described Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar as the saviour of the physically challenged.

Taking part in a programme to distribute enhanced pension to the physically challenged at a programme held here on Wednesday, they said that the monthly pension for the differently-abled has been increased to Rs 4,016 a month against Rs 200 a month paid during the united AP regime.

They distributed Rs 4,016 to the differently-abled by adding the hiked pension of Rs 1000. It would put a burden of Rs 624 crore on the state exchequer by increasing the pension for the physically challenged by Rs 1,000 a month.

However, the Chief Minister stood by the physically challenged by thinking about their welfare out of humanity, they said adding that nowhere else in the country such huge amount is being paid as pension.

The Chief Minister increased the monthly pension without any need for the physically challenged demanding for it, applying for hike in the pension and for them to stage a protest, they said adding that the credit goes to the Chief Minister.

In Bhupalapalli district, 6863 physically challenged person will get the Asara pensions, district collector Bhavesh Misra said.

Simiarly, under the Gruhalakshmi scheme there is 5% quota for the physically challenged.

Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha Chairman Burra Ramesh Goud, Municipal chairman Venkata Rani Siddhu and others took part in the event.
