The leaders of the Rayalaseema Praja Sanghala Coordinating Forum have demanded implementation of the Sribagh Pact, which is the right of Rayalaseema people. Rayalaseema Satyagraha Deeksha was organised in Vijayawada on Wednesday seeking implementation of Sribagh Pact for the development of Rayalaseema region.
On the occasion, Bojja Dasaratharami Reddy, president of the Rayalaseema Saaguneeti Saadhana Samiti, said that Rayalaseema Satyagraha Deeksha passed several important resolutions urging the government to implement their demands immediately. They demanded that the government should officially declare November 16 as Rayalaseema Rights Day and said that AP should celebrate the State formation day on October 1 as AP continues with the territories of Andhra State formed from the united Madras State following the Sribagh Pact.
Dasaratharami Reddy said that the Krishna River Management Board should be established in Kurnool and a special package of Rs 30,000 crore on par with Bundelkhand package should be implemented for Rayalaseema as mentioned in the AP State Bifurcation Act.
He further said that a special Irrigation Commission should be established for the development and construction of Rayalaseema’s ponds. He said the High Court should be immediately set up in Kurnool as part of the decentralisation of governance and development and equal representation should be given to Rayalaseema in the formation of Secretariat departments, Assembly meetings, State level corporations, organisations and directorates.
He, along with other leaders, demanded establishment of AIIMS and National Agricultural University in Rayalaseema. APSSDC, APSSCA, Agricultural Commissionerate and Seed Certification Centre should be set up in Kurnool to make the district a seed hub. They stated that the Mining University in Kadapa, Cancer Hospital in Tirupati and the Department of History Centre in Srisailam, which is already a part of the Telugu University, should continue to be the administrative centre of the varsity.
He further said that the government should take steps to construct a bridge at Siddeswaram as part of the national highway to be built from Kalwakurthy to Atmakuru in Kurnool district. The Srisailam project should be fully used for Rayalaseema, Nellore, Prakasam and Mahabubnagar districts of Telangana and Godavari waters should be diverted to Nagarjuna Sagar and Krishna Delta.
The Rayalaseema leaders sought implementation of GN Rao and Boston Committee reports. Construction of Tungabhadra upper parallel canal, expansion of Handri Neeva canal and Galeru Nagari second phase construction should be undertaken. They stated that along with the construction of Amrita Sagar Reservoir, Vedavati lift scheme with a capacity of eight TMC and 20-m lift scheme on Vedavati for stabilisation of Tungabhadra lower canal should be undertaken.
The Rayalaseema leaders asked the government to send the Gundrevula Reservoir Comprehensive Project Report to the Central government immediately for approval. They said that the decision to increase the width and depth of River Kundu would cause destruction of 1.50 lakh acres of Ayakattu and environment in Rayalaseema hence it should be stopped immediately. Bridge-cum-barrages should be constructed for every 5 km in Kundu River.
