The Telangana Prohibition and Excise Department decided to explain the liquor policy introduced by the BRS government to real estate, cement, pharma, cloth and other businessmen through district Excise officials to make them participate in the liquor tendering process and enter the liquor business.

Excise Minister V. Srinivas Goud held a review meeting in his camp office in Hyderabad on Sunday regarding this with officials of the Prohibition and Excise Department.
He said the department is sending special officials to districts where applicants are very less. He said that they examined why applications were becoming less in some districts with the help of Collectors.

Srinivas Goud asked officials to take strong action against persons who form syndicates while filling applications for liquor shops and against those preventing applicants from filing applications.

He said that applicants have to use the centres set up in the offices of collectors and the Prohibition and Excise Commissioner Office, Hyderabad, to file their applications for liquor shops. He directed officials to ensure that the application process is held in a transparent manner.

The Minister directed officials to accept self-filed affidavits in case Gouds, SCs and STs failed to submit caste certificates and agency certificates along with applications.
He said that applicants should contact the toll-free number 18004252523 to clear doubts.
