Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad has instructed officials from the Industries, APIIC, APRDC, APTransco, and other departments to expedite the development of the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC). This includes the expansion of roads and the provision of essential infrastructure such as land, electricity, roads, and water facilities needed for industrial growth. The 5th steering committee meeting of the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor Development Project was held on Thursday at the State Secretariat in Velagapudi, Amaravati, under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary emphasised the importance of the corridor for industrial advancement in Andhra Pradesh. He stressed the need for timely provision of infrastructure to support large-scale industries.
To accelerate progress, he proposed the preparation and submission of monthly and daily progress reports on physical and financial goals, which will be presented to the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for timely fund sanctions.
Chief Secretary Prasad reviewed the progress of the corridor development and the allocation of funds from the ADB to APIIC, APRDC, AP Transco, and GVMC. He reiterated the critical role of the Chennai Industrial Corridor in the state’s industrial future and urged officials to complete all related tasks promptly.
Industries and Commerce Secretary Dr N Yuvraj delivered a PowerPoint presentation during the meeting, highlighting that Andhra Pradesh is connected by three of the country’s eleven industrial corridors: Visakhapatnam-Chennai, Chennai-Bangalore, and Bangalore-Hyderabad. He provided an update on the progress of both physical and financial goals related to these corridors.
The meeting was attended by Industries Commissioner Ch Sridhar, along with officials from the AP Road Development Corporation, AP Transco, Finance, and other relevant departments.
