The Congress’s Bhongir MP, Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, said that discussions would continue on cleaning the Musi River and requested the public to extend their cooperation to the government. He said the government will protect farmers.
Addressing a meeting with farmers on Musi cleansing on Saturday at the Nagole Shubham Convention Centre, Kiran said that BRS leaders, who sleep in luxurious farmhouses after making the state debt-riddled, have no right to criticise the ‘people’s government.’ The government will clean the Musi and ensure that the burden does not fall on the people, he said.
Kiran said the government has taken Musi River cleaning as a prestige issue. Noting that Musi became a garbage dump due to the negligence of past governments, he appealed to farmers to extend their support to ensure the future of Hyderabad.
He said that BRS and BJP leaders are speaking as they like regarding Musi cleaning.
While the CM is going ahead with the idea of cleaning the Musi and freeing the people of the catchment area from pollution, the opposition is trying to block the project, he said.
Opposition leaders are trying to stop the project by misleading the people, Kiran said.
He said farmers must attend Sunday’s meeting and show their support for the government’s project for cleaning the Musi.
Government Whip Beerla Ilaiah, Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi, farmers of the Musi catchment area in Nalgonda and Ranga Reddy districts, Zahirabad MP Suresh Shetkar, former MP Madhu Yashki Goud, MLAs Malreddy Ranga Reddy, Mandula Samel, Kumbham Anil Kumar Reddy and B. Lakshma Reddy attended the meeting.
