Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said that on the day agriculture becomes a celebration for the farming community in India like it is now in Telangana, India will witness a true revolution.

KCR extended greetings to all farmers and the people of Telangana and India on the occasion of Bhogi, Makar Sankranti and Kanuma festivals.

The Chief Minister said that Sankranti is a festival of farmers celebrating the arrival of paddy from the fields to their homes. KCR said that Sankranti is the day when farmers thank Mother Earth.

The CM said that due to the programmes launched by the Telangana government to revive agriculture, Telangana villages are now filled with green crop fields, heaps of grain, cattle and the smell of fertile soil. KCR said that the progress achieved by Telangana’s agriculture sector has become a role model for the country.

He said that Telangana is the only state which has been spending thousands of billions to strengthen agriculture.

He said that the BRS government spent almost Rs 2,16,000 crore for Rythu Bandhu, 24-hour free power supply and irrigation projects. It is proof of the Telangana government’s commitment towards farmers.

The action plan to ensure the welfare of farmers and to develop agriculture implemented by the government has increased cultivated area to 2.40 crore acres. At the time of the formation of Telangana, cultivated area was only 1.31 crore acres. This is a revolutionary development in the country’s agriculture sector, the Chief Minister said.

KCR said that agriculture, which was considered an useless profession, is now a fruitful occupation in Telangana and had instilled a new confidence in farmers. The Chief Minister made it clear that similar confidence will be created among the farmer community all over India by the BRS.

KCR asserted that it is imperative to lay a path for qualitative growth by changing the model of the country’s agriculture with the cooperation and collective efforts of all people. The Chief Minister hoped that everyone will celebrate Makar Sankranti with joy and all houses will be filled with happiness.
