After the National Award-winning films ‘Color Photo’ and ‘Thellavarithe Thursday’, Ravindra Banerjee (Benny) Muppaneni under Laukya Entertainments banner is coming up with ‘Bedurulanka 2012’. The film directed by Clax, stars Kartikeya and Neha Shetty in lead roles, and will hit the theaters on August 25. Ahead of the film’s release, producer Benny speaks to the scribes here in Hyderabad sharing some interesting insights about the film.
“Fear plays a crucial role in Bedurulanka 2012,” shares the producer which led them to title the film as Bedurulanka 2012. “The film takes place over the course of 21 days in a fictional community in 2012. Despite having a 2012 setting, the entire movie doesn’t take place during that year. Living truthfully and facing one’s mortality are the main themes of the book.”
Benny as an impresario is a strong believer in the need of a unique X factor that every story needs, in order to captivate audiences. And so when Clax narrated the story to him during the shoot of Colour Photo, Benny was very much impressed with it, and decided to produce. “When watching a movie as an audience, you really want something new. Once the story is set, rest everything else will be set automatically. After watching the promo, the audience needs something that’s new and make them think to go to this movie. I put it as a ‘check list’. I loved the point when Clax told the story. And thought that No matter how interesting the point is we really can’t present it seriously and should be told in the best possible Entertaining way. This story was locked before two months of release of ‘Color Photo’.”
Karthikeya will be seen in the role of a person living as per his will and wish. Society questions him. Neha Shetty will be seen in the role of hero’s girlfriend. They both will be in love since childhood. Going ahead sharing more details, he says, “There is a character arc for each of the movie’s characters. We won’t live completely according to our heart’s desire, but how will we behave if we are aware that we are about to pass away? This is the movie’s main idea. The movie’s high points will be the drama and comedy. Despite the fact that the movie has a lot of characters, not a single one of them feels forced into the story. You suggested Neha Shetty as the ideal heroine! In the audience, there is a frenzy for that girl. She has a strong presence on screen in “DJ Tillu, playing a moden and urbal role. I thought it would be good to do a rural backdrop role with her. However, Clax said that she might not be suitable for this role based on the character played in ‘DJ Tillu’. After doing the screen test, we were really impressed.. Neha Shetty will be set for any role and will get fame with ‘Bedurulanka 2012’. She acted so well in the character of a village girl.”
While making the film, there were a need of experienced technicians to get Clax’s Vision on the screen. Mani Sharma as the music director, and Sai Prakash as the cinematographer he reveals there was no compromise anywhere, even in the matter of artists either.
The film also has a beautiful song written by Sirivennela Seetharama Shastry. However, the makers din’t want to use his name in any sort of promotions, since it was his last penned lyrics. Well, we are all aware that the trailer of the film was released by global star Ram Charan. Speaking of his reaction, the producer shared, “Before releasing the trailer, Ram Charan asked what the story was about. After watching the trailer, they talked about the concept and talked about Ajay Ghosh character after his entry and He really praised Mani Sharma’s music.”
On the workfront, the producer has three more projects in the pipeline, including two concept-oriented films and a major project. We got to wait for the official announcements after the release of Bedurulanka 2012.
