In a major setback to the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, the ACB Court on Thursday approved the PT (Prisoner Transit) warrant against Chandrababu in the Fibernet scam case. The AP CID was directed to produce the TDP chief in the court on Monday. Naidu will come out of the Rajahmundry Central prison after almost 35 days for a few hours on Monday to appear before the ACB court in Vijayawada from 10 am to 5 pm. Rejecting anticipatory bail filed by Naidu in the Fibernet case, the ACB Court asked the CID to produce Naidu before the court. If the court permits, Chandrababu Naidu will be arrested once again and his judicial remand will be extended for another two weeks even as the remand in the Skill Development scam comes to an end by October 19. The ACB Court on Thursday, after hearing the arguments from both sides, granted the PT warrant filed by the state CID against Chandrababu, who is accused of misappropriating funds in the establishment of AP State Fibernet Limited.
According to the CID officials, Naidu influenced the tender process of the AP Fibernet Project worth Rs 330 crore and the tenders were given to ineligible companies. They said the tender was awarded to Terasoft company for violating the rules. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigation has revealed that an amount of Rs 115 crore has been misappropriated in the Fibernet project scam.
The probe agency has named Vemuri Harikrishna Prasad as accused No 1 (A 1) while the former MD Sambasiva Rao, a close aide of Chandrababu Naidu, was named as accused No. 2 (A 2) in the case. The officials also said that the deadline for filing tenders was extended to benefit a certain firm in the scam.
