Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu was supposed to hit the screens on June 12, but it got delayed and postponed. The makers have not announced the new release date yet.
Though several reasons are being cited for the postponement, the official statement from the makers is that the graphic work has not been completed on time. However, some reports suggest that the film hasn’t done the business it was expected to. The second reason may not hold true, as Pawan Kalyan reportedly didn’t take remuneration for this film—his intention was to ensure the film’s release first and support the producer.
If the film becomes a hit, the producer might pay Pawan Kalyan his remuneration later. However, other sources claim that producer AM Rathnam has some pending debts that he must clear before releasing HHVM. These debts reportedly amount to nearly Rs 70 to 80 crore, the source said.
While these are the technical reasons, the film’s OTT rights were sold to Amazon Prime, and now the streaming platform is putting pressure on the producer regarding the release date.
Amazon Prime was fine with the initial June 12 release date, but since the film has been postponed, the OTT platform is reportedly planning to reduce 10 percent of the payment they agreed upon. OTT platforms are now very strict—if there’s a release understanding, the makers are expected to follow it. For every week the film is delayed, the platform is said to be cutting 10 percent of the agreed fee. Due to this pressure, the makers of Hari Hara Veera Mallu may announce a new release date soon. If they don’t, they risk losing the full amount promised by the OTT platform as per their agreement.
