Financial institutions urged to support AP housing scheme for the poor

Special Chief Secretary of the Housing Department Ajay Jain has appealed to financial and lending institutions to extend their support to the ongoing State government’s flagship programme ‘Navaratnalu PedalandarikiIllu’.
A round table discussion was held on affordable housing chaired by the Special CS in association with international organisations ‘Habitat for Humanity India’, Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation supported by Village Reconstruction Organization (VRO) at Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation office at Vijayawada on Thursday.
On the occasion, Ajay Jain said that the Government has been giving top priority to construct houses for the poor with complete infrastructural facilities with quality of construction. The Government is spending Rs.35,000 Crores for Infrastructure facilities like Roads, Water, Electricity and Drainage for Jagananna colonies and the Jalaeevan mission, GoI is providing  Drinking Water connections and DISCOMS are Establishing Electricity. He also said that the Government distributed House pattas in the name of women beneficiaries and spent Rs 22,000 crores for the land and approached the Government of India for sanction of houses from 2019 to 20022. The Government of India sanctioned 22 Lakhs houses to the Andhra Pradesh Government and sanctioned Rs 33,000 crores for the construction of houses and Rs 26,000 crores were utilised. The Grama Ward Village Secretariat Department is also playing a key role in identifying the beneficiaries and close monitoring by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy with the officials from time to time.
James Samuel, National Director for Habitat Humanity India said that the Andhra Pradesh government has been giving priority to the construction of houses for the poor. He also recalled that then late YS Rajasekhar Reddy gave a top priority to housing for the poor and now his son is giving the same priority for providing a roof to the poor people and praised the government’s efforts to construct the houses in a big way.
D Chakrapani Retired IAS officer chairman for Village Reconstruction Organisation (VRO) said that all the lending agencies shall concentrate on Health care for the people and make awareness on how to take precautions on family health care.
M Shiva Prasad, Joint MD, Manohar Miriyala DGM National Housing Bank Justin Jebakumar Director Habitat for Humanity Aafsha Kansal International Finance Corporation World Bank PalRaj Kumar Project Manager and others were present.
