Five killed as car collides with lorry

In a ghastly road accident, five persons, including four women, were killed as the car in which they were travelling collided with a lorry at Medarametla village in Korisapadu mandal on the national highway in the early hours of Sunday.

Police said that the wife and daughter of Addanki Sub-Inspector Samandar Vali were among the deceased. The Addanki SI family is residing in Guntur. The deceased went to Chinaganjam to watch the Maha Sivaratri celebrations. The accident took place when they were going to Guntur, The deceased included SI’s wife Sheik Vahida (35), daughter Sheik Aayesha (9), their friends Gurrala Jayasri (50) Gurrala Divyateja (29), and the car driver K Veerabrahmaachari (22). One of the tires of the car burst and the car driver lost control of the vehicle resulting in it mounting the road divider and plunging into the other lane and colliding with a speeding lorry that was going to Chennai from Vijayawada.

All five were killed instantaneously. The bodies were shifted to the GGH in Addanki.

Meanwhile, Bapatla SP Vakul Jindal visited the place where the accident took place and saw the ill-fated car. The police officials explained to him how the accident took place. The SP also consoled the Addaniki SI Samandar Vali.
