Flood situation grim in Bhupalpally district

Huge inflows into irrigation projects continue in the district. The district administration is on its toes as the crest gates of all projects have been lifted to let out the floodwaters downstream.

People in villages on the border with neighbouring States are in the grip of fear with inflow into irrigation projects continuing to rise. The crest gates of upstream irrigation projects, Sriramsagar and Lower Manair have been opened to release floodwaters downstream. It has led to a huge inflow into the Lakshmi Barrage at Medigadda. A second flood warning has been issued at Kaleshwaram Pushkar ghat.

The inflow into the Lakshmi Barrage has been rising rapidly since morning. The Pranahita and Indravati rivers are in spate. The national highway between Mancherial and Bhupalapatanm remains flooded. Flood threat looms large over villages under Mahadevapur, Palimela. The State government deployed National Disaster Response (NRDF) teams to villager which are facing flood threat.
