Chief Secretary to the AP Government KS Jawahar Reddy has underscored the need for collaborative efforts between the school education and college education departments to strategise and implement AI-based educational tools effectively. Presiding over a review meeting with key officials from the State Education Department at the State Secretariat in Vlagapudi on Monday, the Chief Secretary made it clear that the focal point of the discussion was the seamless integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the educational landscape across schools, colleges, and universities.

Jawahar Reddy underlined the imperative to build the capacity of students and parents to embrace AI-driven learning. Furthermore, he directed the Education department officials to submit well-considered proposals outlining the establishment of technical boards to oversee this transformative initiative.

Jawahar Reddy highlighted the exponential growth of AI applications in education, ranging from mobile applications to online courses. He observed a growing interest among students and parents in harnessing the potential of AI to enrich the learning experience.

The Chief Secretary emphasized the need for heightened awareness about AI among both students and parents.

Shedding light on future plans, Principal Secretary of the State Higher Education Department, Shyamala Rao, announced the forthcoming establishment of centres of excellence, technical laboratories, as well as virtual and augmented reality labs dedicated to Artificial Intelligence across all universities. Additionally, efforts are being channelled toward providing students with globally benchmarked training in AI, positioning them to thrive in the digital era.

Prof. Hemachandra Reddy, President of the Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education, articulated that AI courses have already been introduced in universities, with a dedicated focus on bolstering students’ capacity. These measures, he noted, are poised to elevate research methodologies, classroom management, and personalized learning experiences.

Sharing insights into the innovative pedagogical approaches, Praveen Prakash, Principal Secretary of School Education, delivered a comprehensive presentation on leveraging AI in education. He outlined strategies to engage students through pre-recorded videos featuring internationally acclaimed educators for various subjects. Prakash delved into diverse facets of imparting education through AI-driven techniques.

State School Infrastructure Commissioner P Bhaskar, School Education Commissioner Suresh Kumar, Intermediate Board Commissioner Sourav Gaur, and other officials were present.
