Focus on district-wise development plans: CM

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said that for the first time in the State’s history, district-wise development plans are being discussed at the State-level, marking a new approach to governance. Addressing the second and final day of the District Collectors’ Conference at the State Secretariat on Wednesday, the Chief Minister stressed that if district collectors formulate and effectively implement development plans for their respective zones, Andhra Pradesh will witness unprecedented progress.
“We have five zones which are all power hubs. The first zone comprises Visakhapatnam while Rajamahendravaram is in second zone, the capital city of Amaravati in third zone, Tirupati is in fourth zone, and finally Anantapuram in fifth. If district collectors successfully implement development plans based on these power hubs, the future of the State will be extremely bright,” the CM stated.
To ensure effective governance, one senior officer has been appointed as the in-charge for each zone, while each district is under the supervision of a dedicated in-charge minister. The Chief Minister directed all officials to hold comprehensive discussions on developing their regions and to focus on field-level implementation of their plans.
“From next month onwards, senior officers will be required to conduct ground-level visits for three to four days each month to assess grassroots issues and devise real-time solutions for effective implementation,” he added. Revisiting a stance he took three decades ago, the CM stressed the potential of tourism in driving economic growth. He recalled facing criticism from Communist leaders 30 years ago for promoting tourism, but maintained his belief that tourism could play a pivotal role in poverty eradication and wealth creation.
“There is no communism, capitalism, or socialism, the future belongs to tourism. It is the only sector that requires no major funding and can be developed to generate significant economic benefits,” the CM reiterated.
He mentioned that a CPI MLA in the Telangana Assembly recently acknowledged his vision, noting that 30 years ago, Chandrababu advocated for developing tourist destinations as a sustainable growth strategy when the idea faced widespread opposition.
The Chief Minister concluded by urging district collectors to understand and implement his vision at the ground level. “If my directions are followed and executed effectively, excellent results will be achieved,” he asserted.
The conference underscored the government’s focus on decentralised development, accountability, and real-time problem-solving to accelerate statewide progress.
