Focus on extending crop loans, DC tells bankers

District Collector AS Dinesh Kumar has asked the bankers to focus on sanctioning crop loans to the farmers to achieve the targets.
The district-level consultative committee and district-level review meeting presided over by the Collector, were held here on Wednesday.
The Collector reviewed the loans which have been extended so far and the targets. The bank officials apprised the Collector that till September end 83.59% of loans worth Rs 4055 crore had been sanctioned. The Collector told them to sanction loans to the farmers as per their requirements. He also asked them to reach the target during the rabi season by extending more loans to the farmers. The Collector said that the bankers should give priority to extending loans to the tenant farmers.
Collector Dinesh Kumar said that a special committee would be appointed to study the problems emerging in granting loans and directed that the study being carried out in Naguluppalapadu mandal on how farmers have used crop loans for cultivation purposes should be submitted in the meeting as soon as possible.
The Collector advised the bankers to grant targeted loans to agriculture as well as its allied sectors in the primary sector. He expressed his displeasure at extending only 57% of loans to the self-help groups as against the target.
The Collector also asked the bankers to resolve the pending applications of PM Swanidhi to restore the Jagananna Thodu scheme and extend new loans. LDM Abdul Rahim, NABARD DD M Ravikumar, Agriculture AD VV Ramesh, DRDA PD Ravikumar, and horticulture office Gopichand officials of banks were among those who were present.
