Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy conducted a comprehensive assessment of the current situation in the aftermath of the severe cyclonic storm Michaung.
The focus of the review meeting held at the Camp Office in Vijayawada on Tuesday was on evaluating the impact of the storm and overseeing the relief measures implemented in affected regions.
During the meeting, it was reported that 9,500 individuals are currently taking refuge in 211 relief camps.
The Chief Minister promptly instructed officials to ensure the provision of essential items such as drinking water, food, and medicines to those affected by the cyclone.
The cyclone made landfall near Bapatla, and its intensity is gradually diminishing in the heavily affected districts of Tirupati and Nellore, both of which have been experiencing intense rainfall.
Addressing the urgent need for recovery, CM Jagan Mohan Reddy directed officials to expedite the restoration of the electricity supply system in cyclone-affected areas, particularly in Nellore and Tirupati.
He emphasised the importance of providing compensation for reported casualties and livestock loss within 48 hours. Enumeration activities are slated to commence once the storm subsides.
The Chief Minister stressed the significance of efficient distribution of ration through the village, ward secretariat, and volunteer system. Officials were instructed to ensure the quality of facilities provided to those seeking refuge and to take precautionary measures to prevent any errors in facility setup.
Special Chief Secretary G Sai Prasad (Revenue and Disaster Management), CCLA Secretary A Md Imtiaz, and senior officials from the Chief Minister’s Office were present. .
