Governor of Andhra Pradesh S Abdul Nazeer was the chief guest at the Nagaland Foundation Day celebrations held at the Durbar Hall in Raj Bhavan here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that Nagaland was known as the Land of Festivals as the State was replete with festivities throughout the year, and all the tribes celebrated their own festivals with a pageantry of colour, music and dance. It is a mosaic of vibrant cultures and traditions. He further said that the Hornbill festival, known as the Festival of Festivals, reflected the rich culture and lifestyle of Nagaland and the State was a tourist’s paradise due to its pleasant climate, green hills, criss-crossing rivers, interspersed lakes, vibrant culture, colourful handicrafts and numerous festivals.
The Governor added that the programme was organised as part of the ‘Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat’ campaign and aimed to forge a strong relationship and bonding among all people of the country, and promote mutual understanding between different States and Union Territories, through the concept of ‘One Nation-One People.’
Dr Arenkala Kichu, faculty of VIT University, and L Billa Hannah, hailing from Nagaland, spoke on the occasion while the Nagaland students of SIMS College, Guntur, performed a vibrant fusion folk dance. It was followed by folk dance by students of Rakesh Public School and folk songs rendered by Naga students from Dr CSS College of Nursing, Gannavaram.
