Four persons of a family had a miraculous escape as a train rammed their car on the railway track at Sheelanagar port road here on Wednesday.
Police said that four members of the family were going in a Suzuki Baleno car. When the car was passing a railway crossing gate at Sheelanagar port, a goods train rammed the car. The car was badly damaged in the mishap.
However, all the four persons travelling in the car escaped unhurt. The car was going towards the city from Sriharipuram. While the car was crossing the railway track halted on the track as it developed technical snag.
After noticing the approaching goods train, the occupants of the car jumped off the car and ran away just before the goods train had rammed the car.
The Gajuwaka police registered a case. Police said that there are a number of godowns located in the area and the goods trains go to the godowns directly. Since the whole area is a private property there are no railway crossing gates, officials said.
