Four persons were killed and nine others injured when a van collided with a car on National Highway 216 at Madiki village in Alamuru mandal on Saturday.
CI Rajani Kumar told the media that nine people belonging to Mundurti village in Chowdavaram mandal in Anakapalli district were going to Mandapalli temple on pilgrimage in a van. Their vehicle collided with a car coming in the opposite direction.
Three persons travelling in the van and the driver of the car were killed in the accident. Nine others were injured in the accident. The car was going to Palkollu from Visakhapatnam when the mishap took place. Both the vehicles were going at high speed when the accident took place, the CI said.
A case was registered and the bodies were shifted to the GGH for postmortem. The injured were admitted to the GGH in Rajahmundry. The condition of two of the injured is said to be critical. Vehicular traffic on the highway was disrupted following the accident.
