A mega free health camp was organized by Lions Club of Vijayawada East, Chutchugunta in association with the Indian Medical Association, Saujanya Hospitals, Lines Club of Vijayawada East and Garimella Lakshmi Sameera East Lines Eye Hospital, Andhra Pradesh Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association on Sunday.
During the health camp Orthopedics, Gynecology, Paediatrics, hypertension and diabetes tests were conducted free to those who visited the camp. Appropriate medical tests were conducted and medicines were distributed free of cost.
Dr D Srihari Rao, National Vice President, IMA was the chief guest of the camp and inaugurated the health camp in the presence of District Lions Governor Shankar Gupta, Dr G Hanumaiah and others.
On the occasion, Dr Srihari Rao heaped praise for organizing a health camp and congratulated all the doctors who are supporting the cause. He said that more such camps should be organized to provide free health camps to the needy and the poor. He said that such free medical camps will greatly benefit the health of common and poor people.
Lion Shankar Gupta informed that under their leadership, such free medical camps and service programmes are being conducted regularly somewhere in the district. Gupta said that as part of the service programmes by Lions, many service activities are being carried out such as food distribution programmes, distribution of essential items to the elderly, distribution of books to poor students, sewing materials useful for the livelihood of single women, distribution of artificial limbs to the disabled and distribution of tricycles are being carried, he added.
