Telangana will oppose Electricity Bill: Jagadish Reddy

Telangana will oppose the Centre’s new electricity policy. State Power Minister Jagadish Reddy made it clear that they will oppose the new electricity policy of the Central Government.
Stating that the Modi government is feudal, Jagadish said that the Centre is conspiring against giving subsidised electricity to the poor and that providing free electricity to farmers has become an eyesore for the Centre. The Minister said that free electricity supply will not be stopped no matter how many obstacles the Centre creates.
He criticised the Centre’s new electricity policy of paying subsidised electricity charges to Discoms in advance. As per the policy, the audit of the number of units supplied should be clear irrespective of subsidy and metering should be done. The new policy suggests setting up solar rooftops for agriculture motors to reduce subsidies.
He made it clear that as long as KCR is there he will provide free electricity to farmers and that the Centre is taking steps to privatize the power sector. He said that BRS government is giving subsidies to farmers to reduce their expenses and increase their income.
The Minister stated that the poor have suffered a lot due to the Centre’s feudal ideas. He said the Centre is conspiring to fit meters on agricultural motors. The Union Ministry of Power has finalized the draft National Electricity Policy. It has also sought views from the states and the Central Electricity Authority or CEA by February 10, 2023. According to reports, the Central Electricity Authority (in a letter to states) had mentioned that the standing committee on energy had recommended a new electricity policy.
