He advised Asha and health workers to work in coordination so that seasonal diseases do not prevail anywhere. He asked VMC officials and sanitation secretaries to take special care to ensure that sanitation programmes are carried out in full and fogging should be done daily to control mosquitoes.

He stated that inspections should be conducted from time to time at the hotels and eateries without unhygienic conditions. He further stated that Vijayawada city is currently in the third position in Swachh Sarvekshan, and everyone should work hard for the first position with people’s cooperation.

In a separate programme, Deputy Mayor Bellam Durga, VMC Chief Medical Officer Dr P Ratnavali along with the officials went to every house in several areas of the city and conducted a survey and took suggestions. VMC officials said that Vijayawada City people should observe a dry day every Friday and clean the water drums, vases, water tank etc. Similarly, coconut groves, flower gardens and useless materials in the surroundings of the house can become habitats for mosquitoes to lay their eggs in the water reservoirs hence they should be removed.
