During a visit to the Gandhi Hospital to see the body of Bucchamma, who committed suicide allegedly due to HYDRAA harassment, BRS MLA Harish Rao was approached by patients who voiced their frustration over the dire conditions in the hospital. Patients complained that essential medicines were unavailable and that they were being directed to purchase all medicines from private medical shops.
Harish, visibly moved by their plight, expressed shock at the lack of basic medicines in the hospital. “How can there be a shortage of even basic tablets?” he asked.
Patients shared their struggles, explaining how they were being forced to spend thousands at private medical shops. They said that even common medicines like paracetamol were unavailable in the hospital and that the Revanth government is failing to provide even basic healthcare.
“We are already suffering from diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya, and now the government is burdening us by making us buy medicines from private shops,” one patient said.
Many patients shared their disappointment, claiming they came to government hospitals to escape the high costs of private hospitals but were met with exploitation. “We are being sucked dry here,” they said.
Harish criticized the government calling the situation a failure of the Revanth administration. He urged the government to wake up and ensure that essential medicines are made available immediately.
“The government must stop imposing such an unbearable burden on the public, especially the poor. It is time for the Revanth administration to act responsibly,” he added.
