Special Chief Secretary for Energy and CMD of APTransco, K Vijayanand, has stressed the importance of power utilities conducting periodical/preventive maintenance activities ahead of the upcoming monsoon season to provide reliable and high-quality power supply to consumers across the State.
During a teleconference with the CMDs of APDiscoms and other senior officers of APTransco to discuss pre-monsoon preparatory activities for uninterrupted power supply on Sunday, the Special CS, along with MD of APGenco and JMD of APTransco, KVN Chakradhar Babu, directed officials to ensure that all CE/Zones submit completion certificates for periodic and preventive maintenance activities and rectify any abnormalities in the electrical network equipment.
Addressing the DISCOMs regarding pre-monsoon preparatory works, the Special CS for Energy stated that all District Headquarters have district-level monitoring control rooms operating 24 hours a day. These control rooms should be well-equipped with sufficient computers and communication facilities, including mobile phones. Contact numbers, names, and designations of responsible personnel will be made available to the public for immediate relief and restoration operations.
Highlighting the commitment of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Energy Minister Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy to provide uninterrupted, high-quality power supply during the upcoming monsoon, Vijayanand directed all DISCOMs to ensure that their personnel and necessary materials are prepared and strategically located to address any breakdowns or interruptions promptly. The communication systems should be reinforced with wireless communication devices, walkie-talkie sets, and cellular phones provided to all field engineers. Depending on the anticipated severity of the calamity, power supply to vulnerable areas should be manually disconnected to safeguard equipment, life, and property, and restored as soon as the situation improves.
Furthermore, the Special CS directed the mobilisation of existing skilled staff and infrastructure to be put into service.
Skilled staff and infrastructure from unaffected areas will be redeployed to crisis areas, and additional skilled staff and infrastructure will be engaged by local officials as required.The meeting was attended by B Malla Reddy, JMD of APTransco Vigilance & Security; I Prudhvi Tej and J Padma Janardhana Reddy, CMDs of DISCOMs; K Santosha Rao, as well as APTransco Directors AVK Bhaskar, Veerabhadra Reddy, and other senior officers from APTransco and APDISCOMs.
