Girl rescued from railway platform dies

The girl student, who accidentally fell down while alighting from a train and got stuck between the train and the railway platform at the Duvvada railway station on Wednesday, died while undergoing treatment in KIMS Hospital here on Thursday.

The 24-hour-long battle with the death of MCA student Sasikala (20) ended as she lost her life while undergoing treatment in the KIMS hospital. She was studying MCA at Vignan College.

When she was getting down from the Guntur-Rayagada passenger train at Duvvada station, she accidentally fell down from the train and was sandwiched between the platform and the train.

After two hours of effort, the railway staff dug up a portion of the platform and retrieved the girl. She was admitted to the KIMS hospital but unfortunately, she died on Thursday. The doctors of the hospital said that the girl suffered bleeding inside and her ribs were broken. Due to internal bleeding, her organs were badly damaged which caused her death.

The students who commute daily told the media that the train halts at the station only for a few minutes, while the passengers should board the train and those who boarded, should alight. In a hurry to get down from the train, some lost their balance and fell down.
