A Goods Wagon derailed in the wee hours on Wednesday on the Down Main Line (Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam) at Rajahmundry Station Yard forcing the railway officials to cancel some passenger trains. Railway officials here on Wednesday said that Vijayawada Division had undertaken special measures for the convenience of passengers in the wake of derailment at Rajahmundry railway Station Yard. With the meticulous planning and coordinated team efforts, the daunting task of re-railment was accomplished in a swift manner within 7 hrs. Vijayawada Division with a team effort, accomplished the daunting task of re-railment of NMG (New modified Goods) Goods Wagon, which derailed at 02:55 today.
The railway officials informed that one wagon carrying consignment of ‘cars’ of NMG rake Ex- Walajabad to Kidderpore Docks, Kolakatta derailed at Point 67/B at Rajahmundry Yard. Due to constructive team efforts, Train Services were restored to normalcy at 10:00 hrs within 7 hours from the occurrence of the incident at Rajahmundry Railway Station yard
Team of Officials under the Supervision of Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division swung into action and completed the re-railment in swift manner. Srikanth, ADRM, Operations, Officers team, Inspectors and Staff from Engineering, Operating, Commercial, Signalling and Electrical reached the spot at the Yard immediately and expedited the process of restoration as the derailment took place on the critical trunk route of Golden Quadrilateral between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.
This section is very essential for movement of Passengers and freight between Chennai- Howrah, Guntakal- Howrah and Hyderabad- Howrah. Due to derailment of good train, 12718 Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam, 12717 Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada, 17239 Guntur-Visakhapatnam, 17240 Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada, 22702-Vijayawada-Guntur, 07628 Vijayawada-Guntur and 17257 Kakinada-Vijayawada passengers trains were cancelled and some trains were partially cancelled.
