District Collector P Prasanthi directed the officials of the education department to motivate the parents committees and ensure that there would be no school dropouts in the district. The Collector inaugurated a one-day training programme for MEOs, DRDAs and APMs on various programmes organised by the Education Department in the auditorium of V Raju College.Speaking on this occasion, the Collector suggested that APMs should work in the education department in such a way as to achieve the goals of sustainable development. She said that the training programme should be taken seriously and fully aware of the various programmes being implemented in the education department.
The Collector said that after learning about the various programmes being carried out under the Education Department and making the Parents Committee aware of the development of the schools, today the work should be done properly.The Collector directed the APMs to observe the programmes being held in schools and ensure that all the eligible students receive the Gorumudda and Vidya Kanuka welfare schemes benefits.
She also directed the officials to ensure that there would be not school drops out in the district. She asked them to motivate the parents and to ensure that they send their children to schools. Bhimavaram RDO Desiraju, DEO Venkataramana and Samagra Shiksha APC Shaym Sunder were among those who were present.Later, Collector Prasanthi flagged off the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation rally and participated here on Wednesday. The rally began at BV Raju College and concluded at BV Raju statue.
Speaking on the occasion, she called upon people to enrol themselves as voters, the District Collector said that the right to vote is crucial for every citizen in a democracy. Everyone above the age of 18 should register their names in the voters list to vote as a responsible citizen. Those who complete 18 years by January 1, 2023 should be registered as voters. The Collector said that after registering the eligible youth, they would be issued a Voter Photo Identity Card (IPIC).
She pointed out that those who would complete the age of 18 years by January 1, 2023 could submit an early application to be registered as a voter in the ongoing voter registration programme as part of the annual revision of the 2023 voter list. She said that the Election Commission has provided an opportunity for the youth to fill Form-6 and register as a voter.She asked the youths to educate the illiterate and make them aware to exercise their right to vote. Prasanthi suggested that everyone should participate in the elections and choose their future through their vote.
