Govt deadline ends, but JPSs did not join duties

Must read

Junior Panchayat Secretaries (JPS) have decided to settle the matter with the State Government. The KCR government had set a deadline to end the strike by 5 pm on May 9 and had warned that otherwise they will be dismissed. The Junior Panchayat Secretaries did not call off their strike till 5 pm on May 9.

Moreover, the JPSs made their stand clear saying, “Did not join the duties. We will continue the strike regardless of dismissal threats. We are making it clear that the strike will not be called off under any circumstances until our demands are accepted.”

It may be recalled that the government had issued a notice on May 8 making it that Junion Panchayat Secretaries will face dismissal if they fail to join duties by 5 pm on May 9.

The demands of Junior Panchayat Secretaries are that they should be regularized and a GO should be issued regarding that immediately, their four-year probation period should be recognised as service, and all outsourced Panchayat Secretaries must be promoted as JPSs. The period worked should be considered probation period and should be regularised. The cadre strength of panchayat secretaries across the state should be ascertained.
