Govt officials donate Rs 14 lakh to district relief fund

In a heartwarming display of solidarity and generosity, senior officers and employees from various government departments in Visakhapatnam district celebrated the New Year by contributing a total of Rs14,22,368 to the Sanjeevani Nidhi – District Relief Fund. The initiative, spearheaded by District Collector Dr. A. Mallikarjuna, garnered support from all departments.
Collector Mallikarjuna set an inspiring example by donating his one-month salary of Rs 1,10,000. The Collector Camp Office staff contributed Rs.12,000, while Deputy Collectors, Tahsildars, employees, members of the AP Revenue Association and retired employees, collectively donated Rs1,79,523.
Employees of the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) and the Education Department contributed Rs 1,79,523 and Rs 1,05,000, respectively.
The Health Department, showing its commitment to the cause, donated Rs 95,000, while the Animal Husbandry Department contributed Rs 50,000.
The Zilla Parishad, Cooperative, and Officers Club, Visakhapatnam, each contributed Rs 50,000. In a significant gesture, employees from various other departments pooled together a substantial amount of Rs 2,85,845, reflecting a collective spirit of compassion and community welfare.
The contributions were handed over to the Sanjeevani Nidhi – District Relief Fund in the form of cheques and deeds. The funds will be utilised to assist the poor and homeless in the district, specifically earmarked for medical expenses, education, nutrition, and other essential needs in special cases.
