Govt targeting TDP leaders, Naidu complains to Governor

Must read

TDP Chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu penned a letter to AP Governor S Abdul Nazeer on Friday, expressing concern over what he perceives as targeted actions by the ruling YSRCP against opposition Telugudesam Party (TDP) members. Naidu highlighted instances where TDP leaders and cadre allegedly faced economic and political repercussions orchestrated by the YSRCP-led Andhra Pradesh government, under Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
In his letter, Naidu raised objections to the establishment of the Andhra Pradesh State Directorate for Revenue Intelligence (APSDRI), which he claims has been misused to intimidate and weaken TDP members. According to Naidu, the APSDRI, spearheaded by Special Commissioner Chilakala Rajeswara Reddy, has deviated from its intended purpose and has become a tool for the YSRCP to suppress dissent within the opposition ranks.

Naidu cited specific instances of harassment, including the cases of TDP MLA Yeluri Sambasavia Rao, former Minister P Narayana in Nellore, and the son of former Minister Prathipati Pullarao, P Sarath. He emphasised that Sarath’s involvement in a firm was brief and questioned the legitimacy of the charges brought against him by APSDRI, particularly in light of a notice from the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DDGI) regarding a hefty fine.

Seeking the intervention of the AP Governor, Naidu urged the immediate cessation of what he described as “illegal and reprehensible tactics” employed by the ruling YSRCP against TDP members.
