Ministers K. Atchannaidu (Agriculture), Payyavula Keshav (Finance), and Nadendla Manohar (Public Distribution System and Consumer Affairs) have directed officials to address the needs of farmers affected by recent calamities. They have also mandated the implementation of the crop insurance scheme for all farmers in the state and will review its application specifically for mango farmers.
On Monday, the three ministers held a review meeting with Agriculture and Horticulture officials at the Secretariat in Velagapudi. Following the meeting, they addressed the media, emphasizing that the state will implement the best possible crop insurance scheme as directed by the Union Government.
They criticized the previous YSRCP government for mishandling the crop insurance scheme over the past five years and neglecting mango farmers. Under the direction of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, a review of the scheme’s implementation will take place, they added.
The ministers noted that the crop insurance scheme would provide crucial financial assistance to farmers who have suffered significant losses due to recent calamities. They discussed the scheme’s implementation in relation to crop yields and weather conditions and mentioned that the possibility of its implementation is under consideration.
A detailed report on these matters has been submitted to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Attendees at the meeting included Agriculture Department Special Chief Secretary Budithi Rajasekhar, Horticulture and Fisheries Secretary A. Babu, Agriculture Department Commissioner and Director Dr. S. Dilli Rao, and Horticulture Commissioner K. Srinivasulu.
