The Telangana government is taking initiatives to make Aarogya Telangana more effective.
The idea is to ensure health for all and to make free medical services available to all and be a role model for the entire country. The government is taking steps to provide 10,000 super speciality beds in hospitals across the state.

Already 2,000 beds have been sanctioned as part of the NIMS Expansion Project launched at a cost of Rs 1,571 crore. With 1,800 beds in NIMS and the four TIMS in the city providing 4,000 beds and a 2,000-bed super speciality hospital in Warangal, the total number of super speciality beds is around 10,000. Apart from the 2,000 beds to be provided through NIMS expansion, it will have 500 ICU beds and 42 departments.

The government has taken extensive measures to achieve ‘Arogya Telangana.’ The State Medical, Health and Family Welfare Department has launched programmes to conduct anaemia tests through ‘A SHIELD’ test kit to women, provide medical services to anaemic patients with medical and paramedical staff and create awareness about nutritional food.
A part of this programme is to conduct frequent anaemia tests and provide medicines, especially to pregnant women till delivery.

In all towns and villages across the state, programmes have been undertaken to identify those who are at high risk. Gynaecologists have been appointed in major hospitals to provide better medical care to them. The government has taken steps to provide medical assistance to high-risk cases in primary hospitals in all districts.

Anaemia tests are conducted for those aged between 14 and 55 years in all districts. Monthly awareness programmes are being conducted for adolescent girls. The state medical and health department is conducting programmes to make all districts anaemia-free.

The government is trying to establish government medical colleges in all 33 districts so that there will be no need to go abroad for medical education. This year it has taken a step forward in the history of the country by providing an additional 1,150 seats in government medical colleges.

This has increased MBBS seats to 2,790 from 850 in 2014. The government has also taken steps to establish nursing and paramedical colleges.
