The Telangana Government has granted permission to fill 1,827 staff nurse posts in teaching hospitals under the Directorate of Medical Education. The Finance Department issued an order on Friday, paving the way for the recruitment process to commence. The Telangana Medical Health and Recruitment Board will be responsible for conducting direct recruitment for these posts.
Health Minister Harish Rao expressed satisfaction with the progress made towards Chief Minister KCR’s objective to establish a medical college in every district.
He highlighted the substantial growth in the number of medical colleges from just five before the formation of Telangana to the current count of 26. The government aims to continue this by establishing eight more medical colleges next year.
The government has been actively working to address staffing needs in the healthcare sector. Already, the recruitment process for 1,061 assistant professors has been completed, and they have been appointed to teaching hospitals.
The imminent recruitment of 1,827 staff nurses will increase the workforce enabling the provision of high-quality medical services. The move will also create employment for 1,827 individuals.
It may be mentioned here that the Health Department had already initiated the recruitment process for 5,204 staff nurse posts. The recruitment process for the newly authorised staff nurse posts is expected to begin shortly. The Telangana Medical Health and Recruitment Board will oversee the selection process.
