Telangana State Handlooms Development Corporation Chairman Chinta Prabhakar has said that the state government has been implementing unprecedented number of welfare and development schemes for the benefit of women and their financial development.
He was chairing a meeting of the District Federation of SHGs held at the old DRDA office here on Monday along with district Collector A Sarat.
He said the state government extends loans to the SHGs without seeking any collateral and encorurages women to grow as business persons.
Therefore, he asked them to make good use of the opportunities that come their way and grow higher.
Dr A Sarat, addressing the gathering, said that there is a vast development of the SHG women now and then. The quantum of loans extended to SHGs by the government stand at Rs 1000 crore as compared to only Rs 50 crore then, he compared.
The government has been extending interest-free loans to women to help them become financially stronger, he said.
He asked the officials concerned to prepare proposals to extend Rs 500 crore to SHGS by August end this year. He dwelt at length on KCR Kit, Nutrition Kit, Arogya Mahila programme, Amma Vodi and other programmes being run by the state government.
He wanted women to grow healthy and also financially.
In fact, 87 per cent of the deliveries are being conducted in government hospitals and wanted them to increase to 100 per cent, he said.
The Govenrnment extends Asara pension of Rs 36 crore to women in the district. Further, he said that the government increased the pension payable to physically challenged in the district to Rs 4016 every month. He directed the DRDO Project Director Srinivasa Rao to release the necessary proceedings within a week.
He asked the officials to take steps for completion of the SHG commercial complex as early as possible.
Contracts to execute works of the sub-centre have been awarded to SHGs and wanted the SHG women to set an example for others to emulate by completing the construction as early as possible.
Earlier, Chinta Prabhakar and Dr Sarat planted saplings on the premises of the office of the District Federation of the SHGs.
They inspected the shopping complex works and went round an exhibition of products of the SHGs.
They performed puja in the renovated office building of the Federation of the SHGs.
Assistant Project Director of the DRDO Surya Rao, Kandi ZPTC member, District Federation of SHGs chairperson Jyoti and others were present.
