The Telangana Government suspended an officer of the Hakimpet Sports School after sexual harassment allegations were levelled against him by students.

After the protest, Sports Minister V. Srinivas Goud took note of the incident and suspended the Officer on Special Duty. The accused has been identified as Harikrishna.

After the suspension, Goud said, “The state government will not tolerate any misbehaviour against women. Based on the committee’s report stern action will be taken against the accused.”

The incident came to light after some students reported it to a female teacher at the institute. It is likely that the issue was reported to higher officials after which BRS MLC K. Kavitha took to Twitter to express dismay over the incident and called for strict action against the accused. “I am very upset about an incident published in a newspaper. There should be no scope for such incidents under the Telangana government, which is working under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao,” Kavitha tweeted, tagging Srinivas Goud, asking him to take immediate action against the officer. She also demanded a thorough investigation into the matter.

In a similar incident, reported from Rajendranagar on Sunday a school Principal was booked for allegedly misbehaving with students.

The incident occurred at the Rakesh Vidya Niketan School in the Kattedan area, where the accused identified as one Gurram Shankar misbehaved with students of Class 10. The victims reported the matter to their parents, and a protest was held outside the school.

The Principal did not turn up at the school and denied all allegations. The parents registered a complaint with SHE teams, after which the case was taken up by the Mailardevpally Police. The police said that the accused was booked under the POCSO Act.
