Minister for Finance T Harish Rao on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the 10,000-liter drinking water tank (ring main tank) near Milan Gardens in third ward of the town.
He described the ring main tank as a boon to the town. The drinking water scheme has been taken up at a cost of Rs 50 crore. Under the scheme, water from Mallanna Sagar tank would be drawn into the tank through gravity.
The drinking water scheme would become operational from New Year. Earlier, hiccups were reported in water supply to Siddipet through Yaswada Lift-Irrigation scheme due to power tripping and other problems.
