Minister for Finance T Harish Rao on Sunday performed special pujas to the deity at the Renuka Yellamma temple here and said that the Bonalu festival is being celebrated everywhere in Telangana with traditional fervour and on a grand scale.
The Minister observed that the people of Telangana, cutting across their religious affiliations, are celebrating the festival with happiness.
He wished that there should be bountiful rains in the State improving the crop prospects with the blessings of the deity.
The festival of Bonalu is being celebrated not only in Telangana but also in the USA, New Zealand, Australia, Europe and other nations. He said that the NRIs from Telangana are celebrating the festival across the globe to safeguard the native culture and traditions.
He appealed to the people from Telangana occupying top positions abroad to follow the tradition so that it can be handed over to the posterity.
BRS leaders and several elected people’s representatives accompanied the minister.
