The AP High Court on Monday issued notices to six people, including the R&B Principal Secretary, for erecting a statue of former sarpanch Samineni Viswanatham at the Jaggaiyapet RTC bus stand. The High Court bench ordered the filing of counters within four weeks.
Telugu Yuvatha State representative Bolla Rama Krishna filed a PIL in the AP High Court against the installation of a statue violating rules. A hearing was held in the High Court on Monday.
The petitioners’ advocate told the court that the statue was installed between the entrance and exit gate of the RTC bus stand against the guidelines of the Supreme Court. He further said that the officials of the Municipal Department asked the RTC for permission to set up a fountain, and greenery in the name of beautification. The counsel of the petitioner further informed the court that the municipal and RTC authorities are not paying attention to the construction.
After hearing the arguments, the judge issued notices to the Roads and Buildings Department Principal Secretary, NTR District Collector, Jaggayapet Municipal Commissioner, APSRTC Chairman and Managing Director, Jaggayyapet RTC Depot Manager, Government Whip and Jaggayyapet MLA Samineni Udayabhanu.
Ordering to file a counter against the installation of the statue within four weeks, the High Court adjourned the further hearing.
