HC reserves judgement in Vanama vs Jalagam case

The Telangana High Court has reserved judgement in the case relating to the election of Kothagudem legislator VanamaVenkateshwar Rao. Vanama filed a lunch motion petition in the High Court, stating that he would want an opportunity to reach out to the Supreme Court.

After listening to the arguments, the court reserved the judgement.

The Court earlier ruled that Jalagam Venkat Rao is declared as elected to the Assembly from the KothagudemAssembly segment from December 12, 2018.
Former Kothagudem MLA JalagamVenkatarao met the Speaker and Assembly Secretary EC Vikas Raj on Wednesday to hand over a copy of the judgment given by the High Court that the election of Vanama is invalid.

Jalagam, who contested against him as a BRS candidate in the General Electionof 2018 and came second, announced Venkatarao as the MLA.It was declared that Jalagam Venkatarao should be considered as MLA from December 12, 2018. Vanama was also fined Rs.5 lakh for filing election affidavit with false details. Moreover, Vanamahas to pay all the expenses incurred by Jalagamtowards this case so far. The High Court confirmed Venkatarao’s allegations that Vanama deliberately hid the details of the properties in his name and in the name of his wife. The release of Rythu Bandhu’s money to the lands in the name of Vanama also figured in this case.
