The Telangana High Court has pulled up the GHMC for stray dogs attacking and killing a four-year-old boy.

The court issued notices to the Chief Secretary, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department Principal Secretary, the GHMC Commissioner, and the GHMC Deputy Commissioner (Amberpet) and asked them to file counter affidavits with complete details.

A division bench of Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N. Tukaramji took suo motu cognisance of the case.

The court said that the four-year-old boy died due to the GHMC’s negligence and asked what steps are being taken to prevent such incidents in future.

The court also said that the death of the child will be considered while deciding compensation for the victim’s family.

The court issued notices to the Chief Secretary, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department Principal Secretary, the GHMC Commissioner, the GHMC Deputy Commissioner (Amberpet), the GHMC Veterinary Officer, the Hyderabad Collector and the Member Secretary of the Telangana State Legal Services Authority and asked them to file replies with complete details.

The High Court adjourned the next hearing to March 16.
