Heat-induced hailstorm lashes City

Must read

Heat-induced hailstorms lashed the city on Monday. The city was sizzling at 40 degrees Celsius in the afternoon, but by evening some city areas got a respite with rains and hailstones.

This is becoming a pattern in Telangana. With most vendors outdoors in the Old City’s shopping areas, the sudden rain and hailstorm made the situation chaotic.

Massive hailstorms lashed Nampally, Himayatnagar, Osmania University, Dilsukhnagar, Khairtabad, Mehidipatnam covering Secunderabad, Begumpet, and Malkajgiri areas and later the surroundings of Ameerpet, Moosapet, and Jubiliee Hills.

These areas got relief from the heat wave as the temperature dropped to less than 24°C due to the heat. The remaining parts of the city continue to be hot and humid.

Massive heat wave conditions prevailed all over Telangana with the season’s first 𝟒𝟓°𝐂 fire. Recorded over Dasturabad in Nirmal at 45.2°C in Hyderabad, Uppal and Saidabad crossed 40 and many old places in the City are already touching 39. Nirmal, Kumaram Bheem, Nalgonda, Khammam, Peddapalli, Jagtial and Suryapet districts recorded temps above 44C.

The IMD said that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30 to 40 kmph) are likely in Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Siddipeta, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy and the Mahbubnagar districts of Telangana.

The TSDPS said, “Maximum temperatures are expected to range from 38oC, to 44oC and minimum temperatures from 23oC to 27oC.”
