Highlight steps taken for energy conservation in AP: Peddireddi

Energy Minister Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy has said that the National Energy Conservation Week will be observed from December 14 to 20. The minister instructed the government officials at all levels to promote energy efficiency activities in their respective departments to create awareness among employees and motivate the general public as well about energy conservation.

During a review meeting with officials of AP Power utilities and the AP State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM) here on Sunday, Minister Ramachandra Reddy asked the Energy department to take an active role to demonstrate the achievements of the State government in saving energy and protecting the environment in the National Energy Conservation Week and ensure involvement of all the stakeholders. He said that the state government is taking proactive measures to protect the environment and effectively implement energy efficiency activities that contribute to 50 per cent in addressing climate change.

The Energy Minister has advised APSECM to fully involve all the energy conservation cells formed in the government departments during the EC week. The Minister also requested them to practise energy efficiency in their daily life and become exemplary to the common man to motivate them to be more energy efficiency-conscious.

Special Chief Secretary (Energy) K Vijayanand said that various awareness programmes planned duly involving farmers, industrial organizations, NGOs, Self-Help Groups, students, etc. He explained that the APSECM has planned to conduct an Energy Conservation rally, a workshop on energy efficiency technologies, E-Vehicles, Energy Conservation Building Code(ECBC), a workshop on Perform, Achieve & Trade, Demand Side Management, a workshop involving women, and concluding with a valedictory function.
