Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board  (HMWSSB) to take up the drinking water and sewerage works in Uppal Bhagayath areas.

As part of it, Managing Director Dana Kishore, along with HMDA officials, visited the area on Thursday. The water board will take over the supply of fresh water and sewage management in this area for the next three years. However, the MD directed that proposals should be made so that HMDA would bear the cost of maintenance.

HMDA has previously developed residential and multi-purpose layouts covering an area of 413 acres in Phase-1 and 72 acres in Phase-II in Uppal Bhagayath area of the city. The infrastructure required for these has been constructed along with pipe lines for fresh water supply, sewage and underground drainage system.

Three overhead tanks and three sumps have been constructed in two phases to meet the drinking water requirements. Apart from this, pump rooms have also been set up.

As HMDA has recently auctioned the plots, many people are buying them. Many people have already settled there. Drinking water, sewerage distribution lines etc, need to be brought into use in this area to make it habitable. For this purpose, the officials of both the departments inspected the area under the direction of MD Dana Kishore to understand the situation at the field level.

After assessing the current condition of the distribution lines here, the MD ordered the engineers of both departments to prepare a comprehensive report on the measures to be taken for good water supply and submit a report.
