Holiday rush: APSRTC to run 1,000 special buses from Vja

In view of the heavy rush of passengers during the Sankranti holidays, the APSRTC NTR district Public Transport Department (PTD) will run 1,000 special buses from Vijayawada and other places in the district to various destinations in and outside the State. “The special buses will be operated from January 6 to 18,” said NTR district PTDO M Yesu Danam in a press release on Thursday.

“The students belonging to the Rayalaseema districts, who are studying in various institutions in Vijayawada, would want to go to their native places to celebrate Pongal. So, the RTC is going to operate special buses from PNBS, Vijayawada to Hindupur, Rayadurgam, Kadiri, Anantapur, Pulivendula Proddatur, Rayachoti, Kadapa, Jammalamadugu, Kurnool, Nandyal, Guntakal and other Rayalaseema areas,” he said. There will be buses from Vijayawada to Kakinada, Rajamahendravaram, Amalapuram, Annavaram and Bhadrachalam as well from January 6 to 18, he added.

Also, special buses will be available from January 6 to 14 from Vijayawada to Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru. Special buses would run from Vijayawada and other important towns to Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru from January 15 to 18, he added.

To supervise the special buses, RTC is going to post special officers who are available at the PNBS and other bus stations round the clock. Passengers may book their bus tickets through www.apsrtonline.in or at APSRTC’s authorised ticket booking agents or at the nearest bus stations, he said.

He made it clear that RTC had decided to collect normal charges for the special buses. No additional charge would be collected. He requested the passengers to utilise the special services.
