‘Hrithik’s first movie convinced me to try my hand at this business’

Actor Akshay Oberoi, who is currently gaining much accolades for his recent project Fighter, gets candid with
The Pioneer about working with  A-list celebrities like Hrithik and Deepika, observations of the high-budget,  and more.
Fighter is a movie about loving your country. It boasts remarkable visual authenticity, skillfully fusing real-world aircrafts with what must be computer-generated models in the most difficult parts. Actor Akshay Oberoi tells us all about the glossy armor in the movie and more, so read it to get more such little tidbits.
“They are big stars for a reason,” Akshay, the Piku star, said in response to The Pioneer’s question regarding his collaborations with A-list celebrities like Hrithik and Deepika. “Personally, I’m a fan. I have been a fan of Hrithik Roshan since I was a young child. When I was twelve years old, I had a dream of becoming an actor but I didn’t know how to pursue it because I was living in America. Actually, Hrithik’s first movie convinced me to try my hand at this business. When I traveled to India, Hrithik had a big impact on me.”
Conversely, he was co starring with Deepika Padukone, a stunning woman, and he recounted a fond moment with her from the fighter sets, stating, “Deepika and I had shared screen time before. It was in Piku! I was acting with Deepika even though I was only there for a minute. Thus, in addition to Deepika, I have appeared on films alongside even greater celebrities like Anil Kapoor. Thus, it was destined that I would have had a significant part in the film Fighter alongside celebrities that I have already met. This movie also stars Anil Kapoor. You know what I mean?”
He went on, “Although I’m not sure how much of an impact my film will actually have, I believe that by creating an aerial actioner centered around air force fighters, we have raised the profile of Indian cinema. My director has shown me that this is not the case. Outsiders usually say, “Look at an Indian film; we can’t even do VFX correctly.” I don’t think anyone has been able to point out an error that we must have made. As a result, future films will now be judged by how well Fighter was made. The bar has been increased. Plus, it is too hard to conduct aerial actions. Many things may have gone wrong with the movie, but filmmaker Siddharth truly knows how to make a film!”
Akshay Oberoi told us, “It’s funny that we never felt like we are working on a big banner film.” He was discussing his observations of the high-budget, mainstream extravaganza film like this as well as what it feels like to be surrounded by a grandeur of this magnitude. “The director’s idea was undoubtedly grand, but he also managed to make everyone on the sets feel completely at ease, even our starring leads. My co-star Karan Singh Grover and I were kidding the other day about how we couldn’t even remember when we shot this movie! Siddharth should be credited with making the film a financial hit. Additionally, it was really cool to visit the airports, have pictures taken with the air force personnel, and act like a pilot—for me, it was like living out a dream. But I never experienced the weight of a major motion picture! Since Hrithik and Deepika are such modest people, there was never any tension between their egos. Because of their very modest approaches, the movie came across as a serious endeavor.”
Following up on his earlier response, he said, “We shot it at the airport as much as we could. Our guidance was excellent! The air force was continually keeping a watch on us. We were nicely photographed by the DOP. The script writer couldn’t have made a mistake on this one either, since the screenwriter’s father was an Air Force member. He was an expert on this planet. If not, it’s hard to act like I’m piloting a fighter jet. Or circling the jet cockpit while in midair. It was not an ordinary deed, especially with a helmet on.”
Finally, he said, “It would have been incredibly devastating for us if the Indian Air Force hadn’t enjoyed this movie. I recall how they were all able to relate to the movie so well at its initial premiere and thought it was so real. They were moved, and they were able to remember, through my character, what had actually occurred to their squadron leader in real life.”
