Congress MLC Vijayashanthi said that human beings are destroying forests indiscriminately in the name of development. She tweeted regarding this on World Earth Day, that is, Tuesday.
Vijayashanthi tweeted, “Today is World Earth Day. The only planet in this infinite universe that is habitable for humans is the Earth.
Only if the resources bestowed by nature are properly utilised… can human existence proceed smoothly. If any of those resources is misused… the life of all humanity is bound to be in chaos.
Despite knowing this… man is not changing his ways. He is destroying forests indiscriminately. In the name of industry… he is polluting the air and water. He is using natural resources beyond what is necessary. He is changing the entire nature with his selfishness.
If he is doing this much… Will nature calm down? It keeps warning of earthquakes, tsunamis, floods and droughts. Sometimes, it also breaks out in the form of viruses. In this context, the World Earth Day reminds us of everyone’s responsibility to protect the Earth.”
