Hyderabad tops risk list among districts TG records 913 new dengue cases

Within two days after Health Minister Damodara Raja Narasimha provided an update on the dengue situation, Telangana has reported 913 new dengue cases as on August 25, bringing the total to 5,372 cases since January 1. The Health Minister’s earlier release had indicated 4,459 cases up until August 23, but recent data from the Director of Health and Family Welfare reveals a significant increase.
The State has tested 81,932 samples, with a positivity rate of 6.5%. The districts most affected by Dengue include Hyderabad (1,852 cases), Suryapet (471), Medchal\Malkajgiri (426), Khammam (375), Nalgonda (315), Nizamabad (286), Rangareddy (232), Jagitial (185), Sangareddy (160) and Warangal (110).
Chikungunya: Telangana has recorded 152 Chikungunya cases out of 2,673 samples tested, with a 5% positivity rate. The districts with the highest risk are Hyderabad (61 cases), Wanaparthy (17) and Mahabubnagar (19).
Malaria: Since January 1, 2024, Telangana has reported 191 Malaria cases from 23,19,283 samples, with a positivity rate of 0.008%.
Fever survey: The State has also conducted a comprehensive fever survey, initiated on July 23, 2024. As on August 25, 2024, a total of 1,42,78,723 houses have been visited, screening 4,40,06,799 individuals, with 2,65,324 fever cases identified.
