One of the top tourist destinations in the country is Mussoorie, situated in the Uttarakhand district of Dehradun, India. You will be left with a lasting memory of Mussoorie thanks to the city’s evergreen hills, waterfalls, exotic gardens, breathtaking mountain range views, and rich variety of flora and fauna.
And Indian playback singer Antara Mitra got the chance to recently explore serenity.
While she was enjoying the beauty there, The Pioneer got the opportunity to connect with her for our exclusive Travel Tales. And she begins, “Travelling is a very regular day situation for me because of events and shows. I take at least 3–5 flights a month; that’s a minimum! I get to travel to different parts of the world for all these events. I’ve been everywhere, and it’s become a very natural part of my life and career. It’s a part of my life now.”
She further recalled how she missed so much travelling during the pandemic and had to deal with all of it.
Undeniably, Mussorie has one of the best weathers to experience. And the weather was something she really felt amazing to witness, especially something that’s not easily experienced in Mumbai. As she takes us through the virtual experience of the beauty, the Mehrama fame shares, “I’m not very big on shopping while travelling. It’s all about meeting people and enjoying the beautiful cafés. Mussorie, too, has some beautiful cafés. They look very British.”
Also the Kesariya vocalist, she was living in a beautiful property that she described as having old vibes. “Not a 5-star situation, but a very beautiful place to live. It looks like a British heritage home. It’s a mood, a whole vibe. Apart from that, I had a really amazing drink with ginger and lemon. Of course, when you are in the hills, you cannot miss out on Maggie (we laugh out loud). Then the Garwhali chai—I just loved it. I’m not a very ‘doodh-chai’ kind of person, but this was beautiful.”
Goa has certainly been her rejuvenating place since being near Mumbai. “The sea takes all your stress away. Though, right now, I’m in the hills and loving the cold weather here, I’m mostly a sea person. I love any place with a sea.”
The Itni Si Baat Hai songstress is not a solo traveler. She feels, “I don’t romanticise travelling alone. I just like to travel in a small or large group. It’s always nice to share with someone what you see and what you’re eating. The beauty of you can’t be shared right then; then there’s no point in sharing it via pictures later.”
Not a person who’d go to a hill station and get into some adventurous activities, the Fikar Not humming bird says, “I sit in a cafe, read some books, procrastinate and slip in my comfy-cosy wear, sleep for longer hours, and eat nice food. It’s all the weather and place for me. I don’t do touristy things. I always want to roam like a traveller, not a tourist.”
For Antara, it’s always nice to go to a new place or even a place you’ve been before. It’s all about having the right eye to see things at different times. With that, you get to see different and new things at different times.
As we head towards the end of this chitter-chatter with her, she shares that she really wants to tick off travelling to the Italian villages from her bucket list.
